Core Beliefs
At Hopewell Baptist Church, our core beliefs are grounded in the foundational truths of the Bible. All our teaching and ministry are rooted in these biblical doctrines.
God
We believe in the one eternally existing God, revealed in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all that exists, both seen and unseen, and is therefore deserving of all glory and praise. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. As an unchanging God, He remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Revelation
God has chosen to reveal Himself to us through His Son, Jesus Christ - the visible image of the invisible God - as well as through the Holy Scriptures and the beauty of creation itself.
Mankind
Humans, both male and female, are created in God’s image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were made without sin and appointed as stewards of God’s creation.
The Fall
When Adam and Eve chose to disobey God, they distorted the image of God within themselves and fell out of fellowship with Him. This choice fractured their relationship with God and has impacted all of creation ever since.
Salvation
Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a sinless life and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. God raised Him from the dead, and now, by grace, offers the free gift of eternal life to all who place their faith in Christ as their Lord and Savior. Thus, salvation is found in Christ alone.
The Church
The Church is called to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Ressurection
We believe that Jesus Christ will return one day to judge both the living and the dead, ushering in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.
